Thank you Paula.
So glad you're feeling a bit better today.
mrs picard and i have both got the week off, so we have decided to spend the day on the hollodeck.. breakfast in bed, followed by a long walk in the countryside.. not a cloud in view.. salad lunch in the garden ( some of our firsthome grown produce of the year), along with a generous glass of red wine.. then a siesta in the hamack.
its a double hamack, but mrs picard declined to join me, prefering reading her new novel.. i didnt sleep, but lazily watched the comings and goings of the birds nesting in the trees above my head, the insects, and the sunlight flickering through the leaves.. to top it all, mrs picard has offered to take me out to the restaurant this evening.. if there is a god, i'd like to publically thank him for this wonderful day, and present my excuses for not going out in field service for the last 15 years.. and, in the words of karen carpenter, in one of her songs:.

"I wish the same for you."
hello, i am new to this site and it is comforting to know that i am not the only one that has problem with wts.
i'm 36 and single parent with 8 year old son.
i work full time from 8am to 5pm in order to support both of us.
Dozy, too right.
jws know that they "are supposed" to go out in field servce.
A "loving" elder would fix a time and accompany that person, even doing all the doors himself.
A "pharisee" elder, will just tell the person " you know you should be going out in serve.Just do it!".
hello to jwn!
this is standfirm.
i mainly post on the topix jehovah's witness forum, but i decided to give it a try over here also.
Welcome to the forum standfirm. I commend you on having the courage of your convictions.
For myself, leaving the jws was never an issue of doctrines.
There is an expression:
what you are doing is shouting SO loud, I cant here what you are saying.
jws claim to be the only true christians, the most loving etc.
I have seen, time and time again, from my own experience as an elder ( you can compare what fred franz and
others have openly said, for it is exactly the same)
and also from the experiences on this board, that
jws ARE NOT THE MOST LOVING OF PEOPLE.
Just look atPams girl post only yesterday. My own mother, a stalwart witness for more than
50 years, admits to me that she is lonely. She lives 2 miles from the KH.
"YOU WILL KNOW MY FOLLOWERS FROM THE LOVE THAT THEY SHOW FOR ONE ANOTHER".
thanks to all who helped me escape my imminemt baptism after 6 years of study.
it was a close call.. ive clearly been labelled spirituallly weak, as nobody has called here to say hi or anything and its been 2 monthes now....their divine justice for me i guess.
i did see my study teacher a while back when she dropped off my memorial invite, and that was after a chat, nothing to do with the wbts...seemed like it was an afterthought on her part.. they all know about my problems with agoraphobia and panic.
Hi Pams girl.
Whilst I dont know your personal circumstances I would not agree that
and its too much water under the bridge to say sorry and appologise, and I dont know where most of them are now.....
Why not try and get in touch with one of them and see how it goes? My guess is that they would be delighted to hear from you. Anyway, what have you got to lose?
If it has been a long time since you were friends, it could be , that you have less in common. But see it as a stepping stone to where you are going next.
Have you tried facebook, to catch up with them? Its popularity proves that people love finding old lost friends.
Good luck.
i was recently talking to an ex witness whose elderly parents, and in law parents, are still witnesses.. as shocking and incomprehensible as it may seem to both sets of parents, this ex witness believes that, just like every other human throughout human history, they are going to die.
now this ex witness has expressed to me that he won't ever step foot in a kingdom hall again.. he is in a dillemma as to what to do about their funerals.
he does not want to attend any service held at the kingdom hall as the service will be heavily controlled by the seven members of the governing body that reside in brooklyn and who don't know his parents at all.. he is quite willing to stand outside the hall, or attend the crematorium or gravesite or funeral home and also any wake that takes place afterwards as people are more free to express themselves in a less formal setting.
I have recently been reflecting on this issue myself, since I feel as your friend does.
However, I do not feel as if I wish to discuss it beforehand, but will wait until the time comes.
However, each one must weigh up his own circumstances.
i was thinking about this while staring blankly at the assembly speaker today.

At one assembly I remember hearing:
If you are serving Jehovah, and you are having difficulties, it is normal. Satan is trying to break your integrety.
If you are not serving Jehovah and you are having difficulties, its to be expected. It is a result of not listenning to His wise councel.
Conclusion: you are going to have difficulties. You cannot win.

You will see on news reports that escapees often say that they prayed to God and He delivered them. This seems to be typical human sentiment.
Those who did not escape also prayed to God: but they're not there to complain about not being heard.
"Time and unforseen occurence befall all men", jws included.
God is NOT a genie in a lamp!
Google is an amazing tool.
